Maarschalkerweerd athletics track

The Runnersworld Track Meetings have been held at Maarschalkerweerd athletics track since 2012. The track has also hosted several national and international events, including EYOF 2013, the Dutch Masters Championships in 2014, the Dutch Championships in 2017, 2018 and 2020, and the Dutch U18 and U20 Championships in 2024.

Facilities #

Since 2017, the track has allowed running events to finish at either of two locations. All start lines and other markings are available twice. The only exception is steeplechase, for which there is one water jump and athletes finish on the clubhouse side.

The track has the following facilities:

  • 8-lane oval track
  • 8 sprint lanes
  • 4 long jump runways
  • 2 triple jump runways, with take-off boards at 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13 metres
  • 2 javelin runways
  • 3 shot put circles, 2 suitable for seated throwing
  • 2 high jump areas
  • 2 pole vault runways
  • 1 discus cage
  • 1 combined hammer and discus cage, also suitable for seated throwing
  • 70-metre warm-up track, five lanes wide
  • One-lane incline track

By car #

Maarschalkerweerd is on the eastern edge of Utrecht and is easily reached by car via several motorways. Parking is prohibited along Mytylweg and is actively enforced. Use the marked parking areas. Availability can be affected by events at Kampong or Stadion Galgenwaard.

By public transport #

Utrecht is easily reached by train. The tram from Utrecht Central via Vaartsche Rijn to Science Park stops within walking distance, and several bus lines also serve the area. The nearest stops are Laan van Maarschalkerweerd and Stadion Galgenwaard.

An OV-fiets rental bike is another good option from Utrecht Central (approximately 15 minutes), Vaartsche Rijn or Lunetten (both approximately 10 minutes).
